I love that she appears to be emerging out of a soft, woolly fog. Or else one of her own dreams. I am planning to create more in a similar style: soft faces, indistinct surroundings and bright, primary shapes. This particular concept began with Little Drops, quite a liberating way to work, using much looser brush strokes and daring to experiment. Oh but I have a long way to go before achieving the exact image which I have in mind. Isn't this always the way.....?

Below, a small sample of a work in progress. I am currently having issues with her hair, so shall 

have to wait and see: not quite so sure about the direct gaze...

Monsoon's children's wear collection autumn/winter 09

So inspired by these beautiful images, taken from the autumn Monsoon catalogue, which I came across whilst snooping around town the other day. The pom-pom style pony scarf, especially, has my name on it. Trust me...

I am overjoyed to report that autumn appears to have arrived early here; I sincerely hope that my predictions are correct! This is the time of year in which I begin to unfurl, slowly, like a shy little flower, joyfully anticipating the falling leaves, the shifting, achingly beautiful colours - that sudden, longed-for drop in temperature. Autumn, for me, inspires dreams. I feel positively enriched by the onset of this most wondrous, darkly season (the twilight of the year), and have done so quite obsessively ever since I was small. All of my most treasured, poignant memories appear to be entwined with the darker months. Now that it is here, or at the very least teetering on the horizon, I am at last content.

Above, Mr Tuffy Misses You....yes he does! The handsome result of a recent trade with Chad - the proprietor of Mon Petit Fantome. I can happily report that Mr Tuffy feels right at home and most comfortable after his long, overseas expedition. Thank you, dear!  Now, where shall we put him......

Proud Sally, Remade

Proud Sally, Remade (digital painting)

I have been planning to rework several older pieces, and Sally is quite an old favourite of mine. To those of you who may already be familiar with Sally, she may actually seem, at first glance, to be somewhat indistinguishable from the original version, which was a digital photo-collage - yet the new Sally has been reworked into a much larger format digital painting, with quite a few major alterations. I did take several of the photo elements over into the new work; an outline of her head and shirt, etc, but these were merely guides. I also wanted to keep with the original colour scheme, although this time without any photo texture. This took quite a while to complete (rebuilding the nose was a nightmare), but I think that I am finally satisfied with her. I'm also thrilled to present to you her missing second leg!

I have been extremely busy this past week, hence the later than usual blog update. Due to a feature on the homepage of MySpace, I received an unmentionable amount of MySpace mail regarding print availability and various other matters, which I have not been able to attend to properly as yet. If you have your MySpace profile set to private, I cannot actually answer your messages on site. Little Drops in print

Please click to view large for clearer detail, and more importantly the correct colours. Ideally, of course, the frame ought to be square, which is something that I would recommend bearing in mind if you are considering a purchase. The square format does the print a lot more justice (the frame here is a standard 10x8 matte). Nonetheless, I love her!

A reworked Anomaly! 

Meet the serious, prim and oh so commandeering Miss Milou. Originally created back in 2007, in honour of my friend Maren's very lovely lady cat of the self-same name. I decided to alter the tones a little and created for her a brand new, faux fur paw warmer for good measure. Below, a more detailed version of the cage...

I am feeling slightly better this weekend, thankfully. The doctor diagnosed me with nothing more than a common cold, a pretty bad one nonetheless, which basically means that I have been swallowing penicillin for the past nine days for absolutely no reason whatsoever. Wonderful! Hence, the lesson learned: never try to determine a dose of tonsillitis over the telephone.

I am quite ill at the moment with tonsillitis. Feeling very sore, surreal and terribly sleepy. Clearly, I experienced a little burst of rogue energy this afternoon which allowed for the creation of the above. Little Drops. She is Norwegian, the rain in her world is rainbows.
